The study program “Bachelor of Arts in Screenwriting/Dramaturgy”, offered by Film University Babelsberg in German, aims to contribute to students’ personal growth as artists by providing them with relevant training. Apart from introducing them to areas such as media history, media esthetics, and different kinds of media, the course of studies is also highly dedicated to the creation of synopses and treatments, as well as screenwriting. The combination of artistic creativity and academic education gives students a chance to develop extensive knowledge and skills for all forms and genres of cinema and television as well as other media. Modules include Media History, Dramaturgy, Screenwriting, Practical Project, Literature, Media Market, Serial Writing, Media Dramaturgy and Esthetics as well as Forms of Media, a Full-length Film Project and Bachelor’s Thesis. The essence of the program is professional practice of screenwriting and dramaturgy. Students receive personalized attention in small class sizes. Graduates can work in a variety of roles in the fields of film business, public and private television, the radio industry, and the new media.
