The study program “Master of Arts in Screenwriting / Dramaturgy” at Film University Babelsberg is suitable for individuals who have completed a Bachelor of Arts degree in fields such as screenwriting, fine arts, or media. Students are taught how to write screenplays for feature films and are provided with in-depth knowledge of dramaturgy. They are encouraged to develop new creative approaches by working on projects involving all the stages of production, from the discussion of the initial idea to story development. Moreover, the ability to combine artistic demands with market orientation is also covered by the course of studies. Students are encouraged to collaborate with the degree program “Master of Arts in Directing and Film Television Production”. Modules consist of Dramaturgy, Practice of Dramaturgy, and Current Tendencies, Story Development, Media Theory, Media Formats, and Master’s Thesis. Classes allow students to become proficient in different areas of media, namely feature and documentary film, television formats, drama, and audio plays. Graduates have the needed preparation for occupations such as screenwriting, script editing and editorial work, creative producing, and dramaturgical work.
