The study program “Master of Fine Arts in Sound for Picture” at Film University Babelsberg is directed at individuals who have successfully completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Sound or have comparable qualifications. The course of studies encourages students to develop a deeper understanding of audio engineering, sound mixing, acoustic, and music. The professional skills they acquire include the ability to mix the sound for theatrical motion pictures as well as to independently plan and implement different projects. The artistic projects that students are required to work on give them an opportunity to develop analytical and playful approaches and find practical solutions to issues likely to be encountered in the real-life industry. Studies include modules such as Audio Concepts, Electives, Film Sound Design, Music, and Acoustics. The program ends with the submission of a Master’s Thesis and a colloquium. The solid knowledge graduates have obtained in the field of sound qualifies them for the positions of sound engineers, recording engineers, sound designers, production assistants, or studio managers.
