The full-time study program ``Bachelor of Arts in Social Work`` offered by Fliedner University of Applied Sciences in der Kaiserswerther Diakonie lasts 6 semesters and puts an emphasize on both technical foundation understanding and practical competencies, because students need both to be eligible to work in the fields of social problems and education of people at all ages. The fields of practice are very extensive, ranging from child and community care to family counselling, handicapped support and refugee work. Throughout the program, students will learn how to help people in various life circumstances in order to enable them to live a socially connected life. The curriculum is compound of three main parts: the basic course, the postgraduate course and the final one. Some of the topics which will be addressed in the classes are action maxims and action concepts, psychology and sociology, and international social work. Graduates of the program are active in the fields of educational counselling, school social work, home education, refugee work and other relevant spheres.
