The “Bachelor of Arts in African Art History’’ study program offered by Free University of Berlin is a six-semester course designed by the Department of History and Cultural Studies. It is a study program created in a single variation: Minor subject in a combi bachelor. The course is primarily focused on art and visual culture of Africa, providing the participants with extended knowledge on the numerous theories and practices of the region. It is an interdisciplinary program related to the fields of transculturalism, postcolonialism, gender, global art, art and its medial preconditions, etc. The University grants students access to an Africa-related image database, a media library as well as a media laboratory. The Department of History and Cultural Studies is opened towards numerous scientific collaborations, including other other universities and art institutions that can help participants to develop further in their scope of interest.
