The “Bachelor of Arts in Art History - Africa’’ study program offered by Free University of Berlin is a six-semester course designed by the Department of History and Cultural Studies. The styudy program combines the knowledge of the old modern and contemporary art of Africa. The participant will focus on visual arts and visual culture, including film, photography, advertising, comics, and architecture. The Bachelor’s course is a multidisciplinary program combining a special mix of practice and theory. The course goes beyond the regional boundaries, creating historical and cultural connections with global art and its influence worldwide. The Department of History and Cultural Studies has created a huge media library; there is also an Africa-related image database under construction.
