The “Bachelor of Science in Bioinformatics’’ study program offered by Free University of Berlin is a 6-semester course designed by Department of Mathematics and Computer Science. The interdisciplinary course is focused on specific fields of Modern Biology, combined with the methods of Computer Science and Mathematics. Key subjects of the study course include: Molecular Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, and Physiology. During the course participants gain deeper knowledge of numerous discrete algorithms, string algorithms, discrete optimization methods, probability theory, statistics and data analysis, numeric, optimization, relational and object-oriented databases. The various educational approaches give the graduates the opportunity to work not only as biology scientists but also at the IT sector.
