The “Bachelor of Arts in Dutch Language and Literature’’ study program offered by Free University of Berlin is a six-semester course designed by the Department of Philosophy and Humanities. It is a study program created in two variations: Major subject in a combi bachelor and Minor subject in a combi bachelor. The course is primarily focused on the history, structure and distribution of the Dutch language. The interdisciplinary study program introduces the participants to the relations between the language and the other subjects like Art, Social Sciences, Geography, Politics, etc. Students are expected to develop not only basic language skills but also to work with different literature texts, to analyze and put them into a wider political-historical context. The study program combines language theory and extensive practice.
