The “Bachelor of Arts in English Language and Literature’’ study program offered by Free University of Berlin is a six-semester course designed by the Department of Philosophy and Humanities. It is a study program created in two variations: Major subject in a combi bachelor and Minor subject in a combi bachelor. The interdisciplinary course examines the English-speaking cultures (other than North America) from past to present. There are four core subjects in the study program - Linguistics, Literary studies, Medieval Studies, and Cultural Ctudies. The Cultural Studies module is focused on the relations between text and media, as well as the role they play in forming the society. The course has a perfect balance between theory and practice, aiming at teaching the participant to analyze different literatures text and art forms, and put them into a global cultural and historical context.
