The “Bachelor of Arts in English Language and Literature with Teacher Training’’ study program offered by Free University of Berlin is a six-semester course designed by the Department of Philosophy and Humanities. It is a study program created in two variations: Major subject in a combi bachelor with teacher training and Minor subject in a combi bachelor with teacher training. The course is primarily focused on the language, literature, and cultures of the English-speaking world outside North America. The study program is a combination between the modules: English Linguistics and Literary Studies. Among the key areas of the educational program are: linguistics, literary studies, medieval studies, and cultural studies. The participants are also expected to gain an extensive language knowledge including not only the practical usage and theories, and grammar but also the functions of the language as a symbol and the global communication context.
