The “Bachelor of Arts in Film Studies’’ study program offered by Free University of Berlin is a six-semester course designed by the Department of Philosophy and Humanities. It is a study program created in two variations: Major subject in a combi bachelor and Minor subject in a combi bachelor. The aim of the course is to examine the history, influences and the theory regarding visuals media in a broad context. The interdisciplinary study program focuses also on other art forms, related to the film making, such as literature, painting, dance, music. Students are expected to perform comparative analyses and to explain connections between the different periods in the history of the film. Along with the theoretical subjects, the Freie University of Berlin has included practical seminars too.
