The “Bachelor of Science in Geological Sciences’’ study program offered by Free University of Berlin is a 6-semester course designed by the Institute of Geological Science. The focus of the course is primarily on the resources, processes and risks of the planet Earth. The participants will combine scientific approaches with historical context since all predictions of geological processes need the reconstruction of the past events including study of rocks, minerals, and fossils. The interdisciplinary course is divided combines subjects like Geophysics, Mineralogy, Geochemistry, Hydrogeology, Petroleum Geology. A key focus of the study program in Berlin is the environmental protection, calculation of the nature related risks, economical issues, regional planning – that would all lead to a better understanding of the Earth, the processes, and the complex interaction with the human being.
