The “Bachelor of Arts in German Language and Literature with Teacher Training’’ study program offered by Free University of Berlin is a six-semester course designed by the Department of Philosophy and Humanities. It is a study program created in two variations: Major subject in a combi bachelor with teacher training and Minor subject in a combi bachelor with teacher training. The course is primarily focused on the language, literature, culture and history of Germany and the other German-speaking geographical areas. The educational program is divided into three major parts: Modern German Literature, Older German Literature and Language, and Linguistics. The participants are expected to develop media analysis skills, to work with German literature texts from different epochs – early times, Baroque, Enlightenment, Classicism and Romanticism, Modernism, and contemporary years. The interdisciplinary approach introduces the graduates to the larger language picture and includes in the study subjects like History, Geography, Culture, Social Science, etc.
