The degree course “Master of Arts in History and Cultures of the Ancient Near East: Focus on Ancient Oriental Studies” at the Free University of Berlin has a duration of four semesters. The orientations in which students may choose to study are the philological in Ancient Near Eastern Studies and historical focus or with an archaeological focus in Near Eastern Archaeology. Accordingly, in the selected training, students acquire in-depth understanding and abilities in economic, social, political, religious and cultural processes in the ancient Near Eastern civilizations. The course includes the core modules of Methods of Textual Research, Focus on Cultural History and Primary Language Skills. Graduates can pursue a career in cultural studies, research and teaching institutions.
