The “Bachelor of Arts in History and Cultures of the Middle East: Concentration Iranian Studies’’ study program offered by Free University of Berlin is a 6-semester course designed by the Institute of Iranian Studies. During the course participants are to gain knowledge of the history and culture of the Islamic-influenced Near East from early times to the present, the relationships, interconnections, and the specific influence of societies of the Near East in the areas of culture, politics, law, religion. The study program combines practice and theory, giving the participants a chance to choose their own specialization concentration. It focuses primarily on Iranian philology, history and cultural studies, the study of religions, societies, classical and modern Persian and Kurdish literature.
