The “Bachelor of Arts in History and Cultures of the Middle East: Concentration Semitic Studies’’ study program offered by Free University of Berlin is a 6-semester course designed by the Department of History and Cultural Studies. The Bachelor’s educational course provides the participants with knowledge of the history and culture of the Islamic-influenced Near East. Some of the disciplines in the academic program include Culture, Politics, Law, Religion and History of Ideas. During the study period the participants take part in numerous language modules depending on their specific area concentration. The main focus of the Bachelor’s study program is on the linguistic questions of the Semitic language, including Arabic or Akkadian, Hebrew and Aramaic.
