The “Bachelor of Arts in History and Cultures of the Middle East: Concentration Turkish Studies’’ study program offered by Free University of Berlin is a 6-semester course designed by the Institute for Turkology. As a main discipline, Turkology focuses on history, languages, literatures, religions and material culture of the Turkic peoples from the ancient times to now-a-day. The priority of the study program is the understanding of the complexity of Near East societies, having in mind all religious, ethnic minorities, and different gender issues. The participants in the academic course are to enter different language modules. And as a result – to be able to operate with the original language sources in an Oriental language to perform critical analysis and achieve scientific research results.
