The “Bachelor of Arts in History’’ study program offered by Free University of Berlin is a six-semester course designed by the Department of History and Cultural Studies. It is a study program created in two variations: Major subject in a combi bachelor and Minor subject in a combi bachelor. The educational course incorporates several areas of study: Ancient History, Medieval History of Europe and the Near East, Early Modern History, and Modern History. The subjects are put in the context of the society, economy, politics, and culture. Students are expected to examine and analyze methodically the influences of the different historical periods on modern life in all of its aspects. Based on the gained historical knowledge, the participants are expected to predict future cultural and social trends.
