The “Master of Arts in Iranian Studies” course at the Free University of Berlin is a four-semester course taught entirely in English. The goal of the study is to educate students on Iranian languages, cultures, history and religions from antiquity to the Late Antique period. Students learn to cope with primary sources and develop language skills in Avestan, Old and Middle Persian, and Persian or Kurdish. The requirement for admission is for students to have a Bachelor’s degree in the history and culture of the Middle East. Graduates can pursue a career in media, governmental and non-governmental international organizations, publishing and other possibilities.
