The “Bachelor of Arts in Japanese Studies/East Asian Studies’’ study program offered by Free University of Berlin is a six-semester course designed by the Department of History and Cultural Studies. The course is focused on different aspects of modern Japan as well as the country’s historical and cultural development. Other subjects deal with the Japanese literature, economy, politics, and society, amplified by the language training. The multidisciplinary program is combining theoretical and practical parts. The Bachelors’ study programs give the participants the opportunity for a one-year stay at a selected Japanese partner university. The main idea of the academic collaboration is to offer the graduates the chance to gather different perspectives in the terms of the Japanese discourses.
