The research-oriented course “Master of Arts in Japanese Studies” at the Free University of Berlin has a continuation of four semesters. The program extends and deepens the basic knowledge and competencies already acquired in the Bachelor degree. The course offers students to choose between the two profile areas of cultural and literary studies or social sciences. Students develop in-depth theoretical and practical knowledge, possess high-level communication skills and deal successfully with the intercultural context in East Asia. To apply, candidates should have a Bachelor’s degree in Japanese studies or equivalent and proficiency in English.
