The “Bachelor of Arts in Korean Studies/East Asian Studies’’ study program offered by the Freie University of Berlin is a 6-semester course designed by the Department of History and Cultural Studies. The course is focused on different aspects of modern Korea as well as the country’s historical and cultural development. During the educational course the participants are expected to learn the four main parts of the Korean language - listening, reading, writing, speaking. Additionally, the course offers subjects covering basic knowledge of the Chinese characters (Hanja). The focus of the program is put on the Korean culture, literature and history, examining their historical development and current state.
