The “Bachelor of Arts in Modern Greek Language and Culture’’ study program offered by Free University of Berlin is an interdisciplinary course designed by the Department of Philosophy and Humanities. It is a study program created in a single variation: Minor subject in a combi bachelor. The course is primarily focused on the Modern Greek language, history, culture, and literature. The participants are to be introduced to the Neo-Greek Studies which examines the development and cultural heritage of Greece and Cyprus. The course examines the interconnections and the influence of the Byzantine traditions to the modern social and cultural fields, including language and literature. The students are also expected to analyze and work with literature and non-literature texts from the examined historical period and to show understanding of the Modern Greek history of books and readings.
