The “Bachelor of Arts in Modern Greek Studies’’ study program offered by Free University of Berlin is a six-semester course designed by the Institute of Greek and Latin Languages and Literatures. It is a study program created in two variations: Major subject in a combi bachelor and Minor subject in a combi bachelor. The focus of the course is put on the history of ideas and culture of the Modern Greek cultural world as well as the history of Cyprus. The participants will learn about the development of the Greek society and the influence of the different social factors on the Modern Greek language, literature, and culture. The Neo-Greek Studies module includes theoretical and methodological approaches to the Modern Greek language system and history. In the spotlight of the Bachelor’s study program are all Greek-speaking regions in the former Ottoman Empire and in Southeastern Europe.
