The “Bachelor of Arts in Studies in Ancient Civilisations: Concentration: Ancient Near Eastern Archaeology’’ study program offered by Free University of Berlin is a 6-semester course designed by the Institute for Ancient Near Eastern Archaeology. The educational interdisciplinary course is a carefully selected blend of five major disciplines including Egyptology, Ancient Oriental Studies, Classical Archaeology, Prehistoric Archaeology and Near Eastern Archaeology. The key focus of the Bachelor’s study program is put on the Archaeology of the ancient Near East. The aim is to introduce the participants to the material culture of the Ancient Near East and with the help of the archaeological-hermeneutic methods to understand the different economic, social, political, religious, cultural, and intellectual background of the ancient cultures.
