The “Bachelor of Arts in Studies in Ancient Civilisations: Concentration Ancient Near Eastern Languages and History’’ study program offered by Free University of Berlin is a 6-semester course designed by the Institute of Ancient Near Eastern Studies. The interdisciplinary course combines five major subjects: Egyptology, Ancient Oriental Studies, Classical Archaeology, Prehistoric Archaeology and Near Eastern Archaeology. The Bachelor’s study program is focused on the history and clulture of the present today Iraq, Iran, Turkey, Syria, Lebanon, Israel and Jordan, with a strong focus on language. After graduation, the participants are expected to understand, analyze, and interpret various ancients’ language texts. Depending on the participant’s preferences one can chose to specialize in Sumerian, Hittite, Old Persian, Elamite, Hurrian, Luwian, Ugaritic or Urartian.
