The “Bachelor of Arts in Studies in Egyptology: Concentration Egyptology’’ study program offered by Free University of Berlin is a 6-semester course designed by the Department of History and Cultural Studies. The interdisciplinary course includes condensed knowledge of the disciplines Egyptology, Ancient Oriental Studies, Classical Archaeology, Prehistoric Archaeology and Near Eastern Archaeology. The main focus of the program is the ancient Egyptian culture in the context of the present. The two main areas of studies are Archeology and Philology. Students are expected to understand ancient Egyptian scripts but also to gain knowledge of modern languages. The archeological part of the study program is dedicated to the different methods and theories of the Egyptian archaeology.
