The Freiburg Protestant University of Applied Sciences, founded in 1918, is a state-recognized church university seated in Freiburg im Bresgau, Baden-Wuerttemberg. It is clerically sponsored by the Evangelical Church of Baden. Round about 1,000 students are enrolled in Bachelor and Master degree programs. The University is divided into three departments: the Department of Social Work, the Department of Theological Education and Diaconical Studies, and the Department of Education and Supervision. At Bachelor’s level, the University offers the study courses “Religious Education/Diaconical Studies“, “Social Work“, and “Early Education“. Added to this are the consecutive Master degree courses “Social Work“, “Religious Education“, and “Early Education“. The teaching portfolio is complemented by the continuing education Master courses “Social Management“, and “Supervision“. In partnership with other higher education institutions, the Freiburg Protestant University of Applied Sciences also offers the study courses “Social Work with an emphasis on Social Innovation“, and “Management, Ethics and Innovation in the Non-Profit Sector“. Moreover, the University has the right to grant doctoral degrees. Depending on the respective program, graduates receive a B.A. and M.A.
