Description
The art of creating garments, developing a signature style and aesthetic, representing a design and communicating visually through textiles and fashion has always been a fascinating topic. Fashion Design students learn everything about contemporary trends and the balance between classic styles and modern concepts through subjects like Fashion Culture, Fashion Sociology, Concept Development, Design Methodology, Textile Design, Fashion Research, Fashion Business and Management and International Marketing. Fashion designers need a broad range of skills – techniques in creating silhouettes, understanding materials and textures, solving complex problems, researching potential customers’ needs and construction methods. In addition to obtaining theoretical knowledge, Fashion Design programs also provide opportunities for practical projects and the chance for students to build a portfolio. Basic understanding of sustainability and ethics in the fashion industry is also gained. Graduates can find employment not only as fashion designers, but stylists, retail managers and merchandisers, textile designers, visual merchandisers, specialists in creating collections for fashion houses, product managers, retail buyers and fashion illustrators, too.
