The study program “Directing” offered by the German Film and Television Academy Berlin provides students with the needed knowledge and skills in order to become young curious filmmakers. Students are all encouraged to create an experimental filmmaking practice as well as participate in intellectual research on cinema theory. They should consider the message they want to convey before totally experimenting with the production process. Furthermore, students will be taught many cinematic approaches, in order for them to develop and comprehend their own unique artistic voice, as well as its position and function in modern society. The classes and seminars that students attend throughout the first two years revolve around practical film activities. They will get a deeper knowledge of the medium of cinema via rigorous collaboration on assignments. The acquired abilities will be given the chance to completely be developed during the third and fourth year by working on bigger projects.
