Description

The study program “Cinematography” offered by the German Film and Television Academy Berlin provides students with knowledge and skills in the field. Students will be taught the theoretical and practical foundations of filmmaking in the first year. The emphasis is put on communication and cooperation, as students criticise and give feedback to one another. Students work together to learn new methods, expand their views and take chances. Furthermore, students will acquire a comprehensive education in both the technical and artistic sides of their craft in the second academic year. They will learn camera motions and lighting setups, as well as gain an awareness of space while filming. Moreover, students will learn how to break down screenplays into a cinematic language that fits the plot. They also learn how to interact and communicate with actors and directors as part of a team. There are a range of practical and theoretical classes offered by famous cinematographers and directors in the major studies program. All of these seminars provide students with the chance to broaden their knowledge and refine their creative ambitions.
