The Hanns Eisler College of Music, founded in 1950 and named after music theoretician and composer Hanns Eisler, is a public college of music situated in Berlin. Approximately 600 students from 54 countries are enrolled there. The scope of studies spans the areas of singing and direction, strings, woodwind and brass instruments, as well as musicology and composition. The study programs with an exclusively artistic focus comprise 24 Bachelor programs, 28 Master programs, 19 Konzertexamen further studies programs, as well as five Masterclass further studies programs (“Composition, Historical and Contemporary Compositional Technique“, “Choir Conducting“, “Orchestra Conducting“, “Music Theatre Direction“). In addition to the regular course offerings, the Hanns Eisler College of Music, in collaboration with Deutscher Chorverband, provides the opportunity of taking part in a professional development program for choir conductors.
