The HfPV University of Applied Sciences, founded in 1980 and seated in Wiesbaden (Hesse), is a public institution of higher education specializing in administration, public safety and police. Round about 2,700 students are trained to become administrative specialists, police officers and public administration executives. The University offers study programs in two departments: the Department of Police, and the Department of Public Administration. Each department provides undergraduate Bachelor programs and one consecutive Master program. The Department of Police offers the three-year degree courses “CID – Criminal Investigation Department“ (B.A.), and “Schutzpolizei/Public Order Police“ (B.A.). After completing an aptitutde test, upper-level civil servants are entitled to enrol in the two-year Master degree course “Police Management“ (MPM). The Department of Public Administration provides the three-year undergraduate degree courses “Public Administration“ (B.A.), and “Social Administration-Pension Insurance“ (LL.B.). Graduates with at least one year of professional experience in public administration have the opportunity to study the three-year postgraduate Master course “Public Management“ (MPM), combining correspondence and attendance studies. In both departments, undergraduate studies are carried out alternating between theoretical and practical periods of study.
