Who we are

We are the University for Social Design, a new type of university. As an independent and young university we stand for freedom, diversity and unity of teaching and research as well as social dialogue.

Our vision is a sustainable world: a living and diverse nature, a solidarity-based and democratic society, and a just and life-serving We see it as our task to enable people to shape this world, even in uncertain, conflictual and contradictory times. Our programs of study, which are unique in Germany, prepare students to face the central challenges of the present in a well-founded and responsible approach.

It is a concern of the University that all admitted applicants can study at the university, regardless of their financial background. Therefore, the university and the HfGG student community are committed to various ways of financing studies. For example, the HfGG student community has developed its own scholarship model, which distributes jointly raised funds in a spirit of solidarity.
