The Hochschule für Kirchenmusik der Evangelischen Kirche von Westfalen, founded in 1948, is an ecclesiastical school of music seated in Herford, North Rhine-Westphalia. It is sponsored by the Evangelical Church of Westphalia. Approximately 40 students are currently trained there as professional church musicians. On offer are five study programs: the eight-semester Bachelor program “Classical Church Music“ and “Popular Church Music“, the four-semester consecutive Master program “Classical Church Music“, the four-semester postgraduate program “Artistic Maturity“ (concentrations: Organ Score-Reading and Sight-Playing, Organ Improvisation/Liturgical Organ Playing, Choir Conducting, Piano Score-Reading and Sight Playing, Historical Keyboard Instruments), and the study program “Concert Examination“ (concentrations: Organ Score-Reading and Sight-Playing, Organ Improvisation/Liturgical Organ Playing, Piano Score-Reading and Sight Playing). Prerequisite to study at Hochschule für Kirchenmusik der Evangelischen Kirche von Westfalen is the completion of an admission examination.
