The course “Construction Bionics” at HTW Saar can be concluded in four semesters for the reception of a university certificate. Broadly speaking, Construction Bionics is the process through which industry learns from nature. Solutions to technological matters can be translated from identical ones in nature, and, on their turn, these add efficiency and sustainability to the processes involved. The degree is imparted by a team of biologists, who supply the natural science notions needed, and engineers – who deal with the fundamental knowledge of statics, materials, mechanics, mechatronics. Apart from that, professionals from architecture or biomedical engineering also add a share of interdiscplinarity, necessary for a thorough modern preparation of almost any study course. The delivery mode is primarily distance-learning. HTW Saar relies on the partnership of the zfh - Center for Distance Learning in the University Association, the support of the Bionic Engineering Network (BEN) eV and the University of Kaiserslautern.
