Together with the Univeristy of Lorraine in Metz, France, HTW Saar, through their joint venture DFHI/ISFATES conduct a degree program with the title „Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering”. It continues for six semesters, of which the last two are for the industrial sector internship praxis period and the interdisciplinary project, as well as the concluding master’s thesis development. The studies are led by proven practitioners and theoreticians in the field, with experience in two of the most successful economies. The curriculum is varied and comprehensive. In the initial phase, the foundations of the engineering porinciples are viewed through the study of sciences like mathematics, mechanics, thermodynamics, programming, knowledge of materials. Then the degree continues with the practice-oriented production process competence in specific fields like piston, turbo machines, quality management, automation technology. Methodological competence for skillful independent work is what the degree aims to instrue in future graduates, but social skills for successful team and managerial work will not be neglected, either.
