The study program “Master of Arts in European Literatures” offered at the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin public university provides a full-time course with a duration of four semesters. This program is targeted towards participants who would like to start their professional career in literary and/or cultural institutions where an extensive knowledge of European literature and its relation to the contemporary world is desired. The Master program aims at establishing an appropriate setting for students to be able to academically examine European written works from the ancient past to nowadays. Not only literary texts, but also political and practical written records play a crucial role in investigating the complex relationship between literature as a cultural formation and the media as the new societal medium. Some of the elective modules include “Literary Theory and Methodology,” “Aesthetics: Literature and the Arts” and “Literature and Cultural Practice”.
