The study program “Master of Arts in German Literature” offered at the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin public university provides a full-time course with a duration of four semesters. This program is targeted towards participants who are interested in acquiring academic knowledge in the fields of cultural and literary studies and would like to start a career in a professional sphere where expertise in media, as well as cultural research, is required. The aim of it is to provide students with the core knowledge of the ambiguous interrelations between (medieval and modern) literature and culture. As the main focus falls on German literature, the Master program offers a research-oriented approach to examining the mediation of a written text to the visual and artistic medium. The program consists of two main types of courses, namely study projects, in which participants acquire methodological skills and supervised independent study where the knowledge of conducting scientific research is put into practice.
