The study program “Bachelor of Arts in Historical Linguistics” offered at the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin public university provides a full-time combined bachelor course with a duration of six semesters. This program is targeted towards participants who are motivated to pursue a career in professional areas in which extensive knowledge of the theories and methods of the academic examination of linguistic communication is required. The aim of the Bachelor program is to scientifically investigate the evolution of the German language throughout the centuries, from a historical perspective. Participating in exchange programs abroad is strongly recommended for students to be able to practice the acquired knowledge. Besides sufficient competency in the German language, participants must provide evidence of Latin language proficiency, as well as fluency in another European language.
