The study program “Bachelor of Arts in Islamic Theology” offered at the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin public university provides a full-time mono-bachelor course with a duration of six semesters. This program is targeted towards participants, with or without Islamic denomination, who would like to learn the fundamentals of Islamic theology with special attention paid to its complex relationship with the contemporary globalized world. It does not only prepare students for employment in religious centres but the strong focus on culture and communication also allows students to build a career in organizations where such competencies are required. The Bachelor program aims to provide students with the groundwork of present-day Islamic theological discourses from cultural, historical and globalized perspectives. Extensive learning of Arabic is an essential part of the program so that students can read texts in their original language. Some major disciplines studied here include the disciplines of Islamic textual sciences (Qur'an and Hadith), Islamic law, Islamic religious practice, religious education, Islamic philosophy, Kalām and mysticism, etc.
