The study program “Master of Science in Mathematics” offered at the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin public university provides a full-time course with a duration of four semesters. This program aims at providing participants with the fundamental knowledge of the key theories and methodological approaches to scientifically examining major issues in the field of mathematics. The quantitative teaching approach plays a central role in the Master program as it trains students to think of possible solutions to current empirical problems in the field. Alongside different modules that participants could choose from, the program also offers the so-called “Mathematics Exercise”. In it, the active independent exercising of the learned material is endorsed for students to develop a sense for adequate explanation to possible challenges in the field.
