The study program “Bachelor of Arts in Musicology” offered at the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin public university provides a full-time combined bachelor course with a duration of six semesters. This program is targeted towards participants who are interested in gaining academic competence in the scientific investigation of music and music theory, in particular. The three core themes of the program, namely Historical Musicology, Musical Sociology / Social History of Music and Popular Music allow students to deepen their knowledge in their desired area and contribute to ongoing research in the given subfield. Participants are given the opportunity to take part in exchange programs abroad during the last two years of their studies. A prerequisite to starting this program is sufficient knowledge of musical notation, as well as music history and theory competencies.
