The study program “Master of Arts in Musicology” offered at the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin public university provides a full-time course with a duration of four semesters. This program is targeted towards participants who would like to build a career in professional spheres in which academic knowledge of musicology is required. This includes music archives, music management and/or production, etc. The Master program aims at establishing the methodological foundation for students to be able to scientifically situate the notion of music in the domains of history, culture, art and science. Particular attention is paid to the interrelations between the concepts of European versus non-European musical cultures, instruments, theories, genres. Some of the specialization modules include “Advanced Studies in Science,” as well as “Advanced Studies in Music Business and Cultural Institutions”.
