Description
The study program “Bachelor of Arts in Regional Studies Asia/Africa” offered at the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin public university provides a full-time mono-bachelor course with a duration of six semesters. This program is targeted towards participants who would like to build a career in an international setting where knowledge of African and/or Asian culture, language and identity is required. The aim of it is to acquaint students with the fundamentals of academically studying a specific region from one of the continents with a thematic focus paid to the following themes: language/communication, culture/identity and society/transformation. As part of the Bachelor program, students are also required to learn one of the languages from the thematic region of their specialization. The idea is to train participants to communicate, comprehend texts and freely express their thoughts in a written form so that they could examine the given region from a scientific perspective by applying regional studies methods and techniques. Some of the languages offered are Hausa, Chinese, Japanese, Vietnamese, Hindi, Mongolian, etc.
