Description
The study program “Master of Arts in Sign Language Interpreting” offered at the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin public university provides a full-time and a part-time course with a duration of four semesters. This program is targeted towards participants who would like to build a career as sign language interpreters in different professional areas, such as education, health service, politics, etc. The aim of it is to further develop students’ understandings of fast and adequate translating from German Sign Language to German and vice versa. The Master program provides participants with the ability to acquire communicative competence as well as translation theory skills to analytically evaluate and resolve intricate matters related to their day to day work activities. By incorporating field trips, exercise courses and internship opportunities students could put the knowledge that they have gained into practice and be prepared to adequately react to any sort of challenges at the workplace.
