The Ilmenau University of Technology, founded in 1992, is a public university seated in Ilmenau, Thuringia. It accomodates approximately 6,600 students. The University is divided into five faculties: the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology, the Faculty of Computer Science and Automation, the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Science, and the Faculty of Economic Sciences and Media.
