Nowadays, applicants are often expected to have practical experience in addition to a university degree. In this dual study program at the IST University of Applied Sciences for Management, you have the opportunity to acquire extensive know-how in the sports and training sector and gain practical experience at the same time. There is a good chance that you will be able to immediately start working as a trainer in your training company after completing your studies. You will also be given the tools you need to become self-employed. After completing your studies, you will be able to design effective training, respond to the needs of your customers, recognize problems quickly and solve them in a professional manner.

The dual study program starts with basic knowledge in the areas of sports medicine, diagnostics and performance management. Exciting topics such as technical skills, strength building, endurance, regeneration and sports nutrition are also covered. Psychological and social skills in customer care as well as data management and methods of competition analysis and management are also part of the program. Club management, talent development, sports pedagogy and other interesting modules are a further focus. You complete your qualification profile by choosing your preferred specialization from a wide range of elective courses.

Requirements


In order to be admitted to the dual study program, you need a contract with a training company, for example an association or an organization. The IST University of Applied Sciences will be happy to help you find a suitable company. In addition, a general higher education entrance qualification, entrance qualification for universities of applied sciences or an equivalent school-leaving qualification is required. Alternatively, a master craftsman's certificate, advanced training (e.g. as an IHK specialist) or completed apprenticeship with three years of professional experience.

The course is aimed at anyone who would like to become a professional fitness trainer during their studies and is interested in practical training. This includes school graduates, competitive athletes, employees from the sports industry, sports trainers and career changers.
