The doctorate program “Astronomy’’ is provided by Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich. Normally with a duration of three years, this course is ideal for doctoral candidates who are interested in acquiring the Doctor of Natural Sciences (Dr. rer. nat.) degree. Here, they will have the chance to acquire academic knowledge in the field of astronomy and work on a research project. The latter can be individually supervised or created within the framework of a structured doctoral program. In order to be awarded the doctoral degree, students will have to fulfill the following criteria: presentation and acceptance of their scientific dissertation, pass an oral examination and publish their work in an academic journal.
