The program “Master of Arts in Classical Archaeology” at the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich has a duration of four semesters. The training aims to prepare students to use archaeological excavations as primary sources to reconstruct historical events, cultures, traditions, clothing and lifestyles. The curriculum includes the compulsory modules of Classical Archaeology: Visual Studies, Classical Archaeology: Cultural contexts, Classical Archaeology: Urban Studies, and concludes with a Master's thesis. To apply, applicants must have a relevant bachelor’s degree and proof of knowledge of two modern languages such as English and French. Graduates start careers in teaching, museums, preservation of archaeological monuments, excavation companies, journalism, cultural management and tourism.
